Mapúa Alumnus Bags Grand Prize in Prestigious Art Awards

“Architect Jonathan V. Dangue, an alumnus of the Mapúa Institute of Technology, is one of the 11 grand winners of this year’s Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) competition that featured both traditional and contemporary artistic techniques.

Architect Dangue, who took the grand prize in the sculpture category, used bamboo toothpicks to form an image of a spiral distorted hand. He called his winning piece “Walang Pinanghahawakang Anuman Sa Palad.”

The special prize winner in the same category was Van Cleef Emnacen, with his piece called “Control Freak.”

Their works showcase modern contemporary and avant garde sculpture pieces that set the future and trend in the field of sculpture making in the country.”
