Last week the Mapua Institute of Technology proudly celebrated its 87th founding anniversary. Being a sophomore, it is only natural that I anticipate the event for it is the only time that we could be free from stress. Lol

Jan 24 - The opening to the Foundation Week. We had no morning classes for there was a parade to be held at late in the morning. My professor asked us if we’d like to join, because if we were, he would not hold classes. Honestly, I thought it was impossible to hold any class in the South building because drums were shaking the grounds that morning.\

Jan 25 - I think this was the day when Minute to Win It was held, but I wasn’t able to watch. I was too busy thinking about our hot air balloon for the Physics Olympics. I think this was also the day for the Lantern Festival, which was supposed to start at 7:30 but ended up lighting the sky, well, sort of, at 9pm. I didn’t get to see it.

Jan 27 - The most hectic day of that week, I should say. Physics Olympics was held early in the afternoon, the sun was burning hot and all of us are anxious as to whether our balloons would fly or rather, burn. It was a failure in the end, for our groups competitor decided to forfeit at the last minute. I wanted to punch him in the face for wasting everything, but yes, I did my best to calm. In the evening, RD and I, with the company of Mio, Marc, Ynna and Darryl, watched this year’s Mr. and Ms. Cardinals. I did a short blog on my thoughts on the pageant the other day.

Jan 28 - The last day and the closing day of the Foundation week. Chwt (my friend from FEU) came to visit me and to watch Auto Principi II or the Car Show, where students, mostly boys, gather to take pictures with hot girls. Yes, you have read it right, girls not cars. RD came too and at around 6 we accompanied Chwt to the train station. At 8pm, the fireworks display started. It lasted for only about a minute. We had the finest view at the rooftop of my dormitory. Might not beat UST’s but it was pretty all the same as it lit the beautiful starry night of the Walled City.

That’s it! I still liked last year’s Foundation week though. I wanted rides. lol
